He Was Sentenced To 30yrs In Prison But Kills His Mum When Released.

After spending almost 30 years in prison for the murder of a neighbor in 1986, 45-year-old Steven Pratt was released on Friday to the delight of his mother, Gwendolyn Pratt. Two days later, she decided to host a party celebrating her son’s newfound freedom, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

However, the supposedly happy occasion turned to tragedy when the former convict had an argument with his 64-year-old mother at her home in New Jersey and ended up clubbing her to death on his second day of release.
The newspaper continued that Atlantic County prosecutor Jim McClain said in a statement that police found Mrs. Pratt dead from head injuries at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. He added that an autopsy confirmed that she had died from massive trauma to the head.
According to Pratt’s next door neighbor Ruan Tilghman Pugh, just before the alleged attack, he had overhead Pratt on the phone with a cousin asking, if he could stay with him for the weekend because he had an argument with his aunt who was staying with them. He added that you never know what people are thinking, and in this case, the consequences were so devastating.
Pratt was arrested by police at the scene of the crime and charged with the murder of his mother. At the present time, it is unknown if he has retained the services of an attorney, but he is being held in Atlantic County Jail on a $1 million bail.
At the age of 15 in 1984, Pratt had an argument with his next door neighbor, Michael Anderson, where he had tried to strike Anderson with a lead pipe, according to court records. When Anderson took the pipe away from Pratt and bloodied his face, the angry teenager borrowed a handgun, returned to Anderson, and fatally shot him.
Pratt was tried and convicted of first-degree murder in 1986 as an adult and received a 30-year prison sentence for his crime.
Reportedly, the argument between the two neighbors had escalated when Pratt and some of his friends refused to leave an apartment hallway when asked to do so by Anderson. He had asked them to leave because they were being too noisy while hanging out.
