Mobile Internet Data Subscribers in Nigeria Reaches 65 Million Monthly

Mobile internet data subscribers in Nigeria now averages 65 million, according to data from the Nigerian Communications Commission as at June 2014. The data from January to June 2014, which was analysed by telecoms data research firm, The Telecomist, shows a 13% increase in the average monthly mobile internet subscribers when compared to the previous six month results. During the first half of the year, a total of 391, 998, 948 active mobile internet subscriptions were recorded which gave an average of 65, 333, 158 monthly active subscribers to internet data on the four GSM operators in the country — MTN, Globacom, Airtel and Etisalat — which were analysed between January 2014 to June 2014. These results, when compared to that of the last half of the year 2013 (July – December) which recorded 341, 229, 981 active mobile internet subscriptions with an average of 56,871, 663.5 monthly active subscribers, further showed a 13% increase in the average monthly mobile internet subscribers.
